Creation of a cabotage network along the Atlantic coast

In the framework of Work Package 7 from the CAPITEN project, almost 30 routes of small and grand cabotage have been created. These routes are now gathered into one catalogue.

The Work Package 7 from the CAPITEN project aimed at “enhancing pleasure boating between different ports of the Atlantic Area and promoting their common natural and cultural heritage through a network of cabotage routes”.

This is now effective, thanks to Asociación Galega des Actividades Náuticas (AGAN+), from Spain, and Comunidade Intermunicipal do Alto Minho, from Portugal, which compiled the cabotage routes developed by project partners into one single catalogue. Named “European Cultural-Nautical Routes of the Atlantic Area”, it gathers 26 grand cabotage and 2 small cabotage routes, and specifies, for each itinerary, the difficulty, the recommended dates, the type of boat, etc.

The routes presented have been developed by AGAN+ (Spain), Madeira Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Portugal), Brittany Regional Council, Finistère 360°, La Manche Departmental Council, Pays de la Loire Regional Council (France), and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council (United Kingdom), with the support of external experts.
