On June 26th and 27th, the CAPITEN project partners met in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This fourth meeting was organised and hosted by CETECIMA, the Canarian partner. The objective was to review and share the activities conducted by each partner and to programme the next deadlines ahead.
The meeting took place at “PLOCAN” (Canary Islands Oceanic Platform), 20 minutes away from Las Palmas town centre. These two days were dedicated to the overall project advances: communication, administrative and financial report as well as products and industrial innovations among others. The 5 work package leaders presented the achievements reached and the forthcoming milestones necessary to accomplish the rest of action plan with 18 months left in the life of the project.
In total, more than a dozen innovative products will be tested this summer to the public, at selected events throughout the Atlantic Arc and at renowned watersports destinations. The itinerary touring routes will be defined this autumn; finally, the study on green ecological industrial processes is being finalized and various seminars and webinars will take place from September onwards.
At the end of the first day, site visits took place including a trip to the marina and a visit to the Latin Sailing Federation, a unique and traditional sport of Canary Islands. On day 2, an Officer of the Las Palmas City Hall presented the famous “Las Canteras” beach to the partners. Known as the “European Hawaii”, Las Palmas has many marine leisure assets that project partners were able to discover throughout their short stay.
The next CAPITEN seminar will be held in November in Limerick, Ireland hosted by our project partner Limerick City and County Council.
