A beach club to learn about the sea
From 25 July to 7 August 2020, SVP des Ports de la Manche and SVP Nautisme organised two cabotage tours on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula.
One, on the coast of Les Havres, departing from Port-bail-sur-Mer, via the harbour of Saint-Germain-sur-Ay and then Barneville-Carteret.
The other one, in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, from Granville, via the harbour of Regnéville-sur-Mer then the Chausey archipelago.
The idea was to allow sailboats between 5 and 8 metres and their coasters to sail in a flotilla, in complete safety, along a well-defined circuit, for a week, to discover the natural, maritime and architectural heritage of the area.
“Alone, with friends or family, everyone can take part, whether or not they own a sailing boat. For this 2nd edition, 30 boats and 56 participants registered and it was an opportunity for the less experienced to perfect their sailing techniques”, explains Jean Morin, 1st vice-president of the departmental council and president of SPL des Ports de la Manche.
Participants from all over France (Savoie, Nord, Calvados, Ille et Vilaine, Allier, Loir et Cher, Finistère, Rhône, Hérault, Dordogne, Seine et Marne, Gironde, Vendée, Seine Maritime, Morbihan, Côtes d’Armor, Doubs, Bas Rhin, Val de Marne) were able to enjoy the pleasures of sailing, with calls ashore supervised by SPL des Ports de la Manche in partnership with local associations.
